Meet the Fashionable Hostess aka the FH
Fashionable Hostess Mission:I love fashion and I love hostess-ing. I know that putting together the perfect outfit can be as challenging as putting together the perfect cheese platter… so I, the fashionable hostess, am here to blog and prepare you for every one of your adventures. Whether it’s entertaining in your home or putting together the perfect outfit for a night out on the town, you can count on me to help you be your own perfect fashionable hostess.
How I came to be the FH:I grew up in Miami, in a busy home with five kids, four dogs, three rabbits, nine African spurred tortoises, and any random friend or animal who felt like moving in for short periods of time. My love of fashion started when I was very young, and whether it was re-doing everyones’ closets by color and season, or merchandising my siblings’ rooms (and barbie houses too), I had plenty of opportunity to experiment with my talents.
After studying for four years at Brown University in Rhode Island, I earned my BA in American History while sneaking in some fabulous courses in fashion and art at RISD. I then packed up and moved to NYC where I pursued an array of fashion careers. I began at Macy’s Merchandising Group where I designed accessories for their private labels Charter Club and Alfani. I was fortunate enough one day to meet the owner of Owl’s Lab, a contemporary boutique that became the east coast destination for celebrities and tourists (aka the “Kitson” of the east). At Owl’s Lab I began as the Marketing Manager and my role quickly expanded to event coordinator and celebrity stylist, where I worked with Denise Richards, Hilary Duff, and the Kardashians (just to name a few). I worked at NY Fashion Week events and traveled to the Sundance Film Festival where I assisted in running gifting suites attended by the likes of Paris and Nicki Hilton, Michelle Trachtenberg, and endless reality TV stars. I then broadened my experience with a peek into the editorial world where I worked in the action-packed fashion closet at Harper’s Bazaar Magazine…. Envision “The Devil Wears Prada”… and yup, that was me! Next I tackled the jewelry industry (hence my obsession with arm parties) where first I worked as the Sales and Marketing Manager of Jane L Jewelry and next in Sales at Shashi jewelry. And lastly (thank god because that was a mouthful!) I worked as the Public Relations and Events Manager of Alice & Trixie (check out www.AliceandTrixie.com). All of this Fashion experience led me to the present where I am the writer and creator of FashionableHostess.com, Curator and Designer of E-Commerce site FashionableHostessStyle.com, Co-Creator and Hostess of the Dinner Party Company DeliciousandDecadent.com, and a mom!
On a more personal note, I live in the smack center of the fashion world, New York City, with my handsome Southern husband, Daniel, aka. the FHH “Fashionable Hostess Husband” and my beautiful daughter, Reese Ella, aka the FHB “Fashionable Hostess Baby.” For fun I love to… workout (I love Flybarre and Soul Cycle), get blow outs (DryBar is my go-to), shop (for clients but mostly for myself ie. guilty pleasure is Gilt Groupe), and lastly, enjoy evenings filled with wine (or champagne, because I am never one to discriminate) with my fantastic crew of girlfriends (a group of gorgeous fashionistas!).
Somewhere in between all of this madness I LOVE to cook, throw dinner parties, re-arrange my apartment, style myself (sometimes my husband and of course, Baby Reese!), as well as host a variety events in my quaint NYC apartment.
So follow along with me and my blog as I lead you through my daily fashion finds, new recipes, decorating tips, and overall educate how to be the best fashionable hostess!!
