Host a Kids Playdate Lunch

Set the Table: Summer Playdate

I am loving having little families over our apartment so my husband and I can chat ‘parenting’ while the youngsters/babies play. But hosting for little ones (especially ones that reach for everything/ want to put anything they can in their mouth!) can be quite a different ball game than my usual table setting. So in preparation of hosting I decided to go on a hunt for a mix of pieces that were child-friendly (no one getting injured on my watch!), bright colored (because it’s summer and kids!), and inexpensive (because if it gets broken, no biggie!). My end result was incredibly successful!! I found these adorable foam (translation: chewable) Watermelon Placemats {similar here}, melamime {plastic} plates $2.99 (that look as sleek as glass!), plastic cutlery (no sharp knives!), and edible sweet center pieces (candy by Sugarfina). The Luminarc Orange Juice glasses (although glass) were a steal – $9.99 for a set of 6, so I had to add them for their cute pop color. The final touches were the Yellow Striped Paper StrawsRainbow Paper Napkins, and of course ‘real’ juicy watermelon! Now wish me luck that our beautiful fabric chairs don’t get stained!
